This program is an integrated curriculum consisting of a broad core of 10 foundational courses, three calculus courses, and an upper-level track of 10 advanced courses chosen from one of five elective tracks for a total of 71 or 72 points. Upper-level students in computer science may assist faculty members in research projects. Graduates of the computer science program can step into career positions in industry or government, or continue their education in graduate or professional degree programs in a wide range of disciplines. The computer science curriculum at Columbia places equal emphasis on theoretical computer science and mathematics and on experimental computer technology. A broad range of upper-level courses is available in such areas as artificial intelligence, computational complexity and the analysis of algorithms, combinatorial methods, computer architecture, computer-aided digital design, computer communications, databases, mathematical models for computation, optimization, and software systems.

Students must submit all academic records for the last four years of secondary school, all national examination results (such as "0" levels, "A" levels, baccalaureate, abitur, international baccalaureate, etc.), and a diploma showing proof of graduation, if available at the time of application. If students first language is not English or if they have received a bachelor's degree from a country where English is not the official language, they will be required to submit a current score of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 600 on paper-based test , 250 on computer based test and 100 on internet-based test is necessary for admission to Columbia. A minimum IELTS score of 7.0 is also required.
