This program is designed for students interested in issues dealing with all facets of crop production. The major crops of Arkansas include soybean, rice, cotton, wheat, and pasture grasses are studied in detail. It provides a strong science background, as well as a practical education. Students completing this program can work in the following areas: Local, State, or Federal Governmental Agencies - Arkansas Soil and Water Conservation Commission, Cooperative Extension Service, State Plant Board, United State Department of Agriculture (USDA), Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), Forest Service (FS); Private sector - crop consulting/certified crop advisor, farm management, precision agriculture advising, seed/grain and chemical/pesticide industries, research scientist, educator, retail business management/owner, technical representative, sod farm, nursery, or greenhouse management, golf course superintendent, park grounds keeper; Academia/Research - many students go on to graduate school to further their education, crop scientist, seed technologist, plant breeder, crop physiologist, weed scientist, research technician.

Students must have completed college preparatory curriculum in high school that includes four units in English and mathematics (units must be of equivalent or higher level than algebra I); three units in social studies and natural sciences; one unit in general sciences - two units’ lab sciences and two units in electives. They should also have high school overall GPA of at least 3.0 and an ACT score of 20 (or SAT of 930 combined critical reading and math) or better. Applicants from countries where there are only eleven standard years included in the primary-secondary system may be considered for admission if they have achieved a strong academic record and the final official leaving-school certificate. Generally, those who have received certificates of education or leaving school certificates (i.e. GCE, SPM, MCE, WASC), must have a minimum of five GCE equivalent passes in subjects, substantially equivalent to those studied in the U.S., including English. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper based), 79 (internet-based test), or IELTS overall score of 6.5.
