This program builds upon knowledge and experience gained during the B.S. Architecture program, with a total time in school of five-and-a-half to six years. This is a professional program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), provides the credentials and knowledge required to practice as a licensed architect. It prepares students for a career as a licensed architect. Other career paths include Architect, construction manager, architectural engineer, marine architect, urban planner, community planner, architectural designer, architectural journalist/critic, architectural historian, architecture firm manager, interior designer, draftsperson, building researcher, design-builder, surveyor, art director, real estate broker, building inspector and set designer.

Students should possess the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor degree. They should have a minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 grade scale. International students should have the following acceptable proof of English competency: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 550 on the paper test or 79 on the internet test; IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 6.5; MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) with a score of 77; UI American Language and Culture Program (ALCP) with a Level 6 Pass; U.S. Education earned degree at accredited institution or successfully completed upper-level College English composition courses (at the discretion of the Graduate Admissions Office).
