The science of behavior analysis focuses on the principles (empirically established) of how behavior works, or how learning takes place. Graduates of this program will use ABA principles and techniques to help people with behavior issues and persons with autism.

The following are the modules: SPCED 609: Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis (3 credit hours), SPCED 610: Behavioral Consultation (3 credit hours), SPCED 611: Advanced Applied Behavior Analysis (3 credit hours), SPCED 619: Professional Issues in Applied Behavior Analysis (3 credit hours), SPCED 636: Research in Special Education (3 credit hours), SPCED 638: Practicum in Applied Behavior Analysis (6 credit hours), SPCED 680: Introduction to Persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders (3 credit hours), SPCED 682: Interventions and Treatments for Persons with Autism (3 credit hours), SPCED 683: Practicum in Autism (3 credit hours).

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to be considered for admission to graduate study toward a master’s degree: hold an earned bachelor’s degree from a college or university that is accredited by its regional accrediting association, satisfy one of the following: an undergraduate cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (all undergraduate course work, including work completed prior to the baccalaureate degree, is used to calculate the GPA); a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the latter half of the baccalaureate; an acceptable combination of cumulative GPA on the baccalaureate and score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) if the intended program is the master of business administration or the master of science in accounting; a minimum 3.0 GPA in 9 semester hours of graduate work approved by the chairperson of the major department, approved in advance by the graduate dean, as well as, obtain a score on a standardized admission test with national norms and meet departmental or program admission requirements.
