This program provides a foundation in counseling psychology theory and methodology. Along with coursework, the program offers hands-on, supervised training in counseling-psychology techniques. Upon graduation, students will be prepared for a wide variety of community mental health positions in the public and private sectors. It is designed for working professionals and delivered on a part-time basis, offers the convenience of online coursework plus individualized attention through on-campus programming.

Students should have a baccalaureate degree earned from a college or university regionally accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or an equivalent degree from an international college or university. They should have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for undergraduate and graduate course work. They must have the equivalent of 12 semester credit hours in psychology with grades of “C” or better. These courses should include general or introductory psychology, abnormal psychology, theories of personality, and research methods. Equivalent coursework in other social sciences may also be considered. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based, score of 79 on the internet-based and score of 213 on the computer-based. Students who have earned a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited program in English instruction are not required to take the TOEFL score.
