The students will gain the following by this program: The development of a critical understanding of the operation of the criminal justice system. Exposure to comparative criminal justice systems which will suggest that existing arrangements are not universal or inevitable and that viable alternatives exist. The development of an appreciation of the social justice issues which are revealed in the operation of the criminal justice system. The development of a solid empirical understanding of crime and the operation of social control systems. The development of a solid theoretical understanding of criminal behavior and social control processes.

Students must have completed their bachelors degree for admission into masters degree and masters degree for admission into doctoral degree. Some departments require a GPA of 3.0. The minimum acceptable scores for TOEFL are: paper-based 550, computer-based 213, and internet-based 80. TOEFL scores are valid for two years from the test date.
