This specialization is designed to strengthen the ability of the students to perform this strategic role. The course work provides an overview of important business functions and key human resource areas, mapped to the competencies identified by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The emphasis is on immediate application of the knowledge, competencies, and skills necessary to integrate business and human resource strategies. People who choose this specialization are often interested in pursuing human resource management positions in a business setting.

In addition students should choose one from the following: Sales and Customer Relationship Management MBA6120, Building Relationships MBA6210, Developing and Coaching Others MBA6220, Leading Teams MBA6230, Facilitating Change MBA6240, Leveraging Workplace Diversity MBA6250, Negotiating for Results MBA6260 and Regulatory and Ethical Environment of Business MBA6270. Capstone module to be taken in the final quarter is Human Resource Management Capstone: Judgment, Planning, and Action MBA6340.

Students must have completed bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accrediting agency or an internationally recognized institution. They should possess a cumulative GPA of 2.3 from a bachelor's degree granting institution. International students whose language of instruction is not English are required to take one of the following tests: the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum acceptable score of 550 on paper-based test, 213 on computer-based test with a score of 4.0 or higher on the Test of Written English (TWE), or 79 on internet based examination; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 80; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5; or Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 59.
