This program is designed to prepare managers for the 21st century. student will learn the analytical, leadership, and communication skills student need for a career in management. The MBA degree is a cohort-based program with a strong foundation in all of the functional areas of business. Students are then given the opportunity to customize their education by developing a specialization in one of the areas listed on the right. The cohort system is designed to take advantage of the latest developments in team-based learning. Students are admitted to the program as part of a group of 45 students. This group takes all core courses together and performs many of the class assignments in teams. Students are admitted to the full-time program (generally 4 courses per semester) or part-time program (generally 2 evening courses per semester).In addition to building a strong foundation in the core areas of business, students must take one class in each of two themes: Corporate Responsibility and the Management of Technology in Business. Students in the MBA program also have the opportunity to study abroad during the summer, to take a paid internship position, and to participate in the SDSU Team Consulting Program - a unique opportunity to perform a significant consulting project for a San Diego organization as part of a team of MBA students.

The GMAT is required for all applicants and should be taken before filing an application. Submit an unofficial copy of the GMAT with student supplemental materials to the Graduate School of Business. Have the original sent directly from ETS. The ETS institution code for SDSU is 9LT-2P-73. Advanced degrees, GRE, or other entrance examination reports may not be substituted for the GMAT. Students who received a bachelor's degree in a language other than English must take the TOEFL. Submit an unofficial copy of the TOEFL with the admissions packet and have the original sent directly from ETS. A minimum TOEFL score of 550 on paper-based exams, or 80 on Internet-based exams, or 213 on computer based exams is required. Test scores may not be more than two years old at the time of application. Although work experience is not required for admission, professional work experience will be considered in an application. Graduate business education is greatly enhanced if student have significant full-time work experience after completing student undergraduate degree.
