The Department recently moved into the Louise Herrington Patriot Center, considered one of the University's premiere buildings, consisting of over 127,000 square feet of classrooms, laboratories, faculty offices, a gymnasium area with basketball and volleyball courts, an indoor walking/jogging track, aerobics and free weights areas and a beautiful outdoor therapeutic exercise pool. The Department occupies the Jean Lancaster Academic Wing. The Academic Wing consists of 4 state of the art classrooms, biomechanics, motor behavior and exercise physiology laboratories as well as a student computer laboratory. These facilities offer the perfect environment for active learning and engagement for students. Not only will students learn about Health and Kinesiology in the classroom, but they will also experience it first hand in laboratories. The Department of Health and Kinesiology offers undergraduate degrees in Health, Health and Kinesiology and Kinesiology and graduate degrees in Health and Kinesiology, Kinesiology and Clinical Exercise Physiology. The degree programs offer a solid foundation in all aspects of Health and Kinesiology. Graduates of the programs have moved directly into careers in various areas of health care, teaching, coaching, athletic training, business and research. Still others have used programs as preparation for further education in graduate or professional schools.
