This program is mainly focused on the international human rights law and policy and criminal justice concentration. It provides an intensive one-year course of full-time study that emphasizes the theoretical background and practical skills lawyers need to excel in international law practice. It is designed for both experienced attorneys and recent law school graduates from the United States and abroad who wish to earn an advanced law degree to assist in the pursuit of a career with law firms, governmental and nongovernmental agencies, and academic institutions worldwide; obtain practical and theoretical knowledge of international law and its interaction with the laws of the United States and other countries; learn the research, analytical and communication skills required to succeed in international law practice; represent clients engaged in international transactions and relationships; establish a network of professional international contacts and clients; work with faculty experts in international and U.S. law and interact with students from diverse legal cultures.

The modules are Asylum and Refugee Law and Policy, Comparative Law, Human Rights Practicum: Chiapas, Immigration Law and Policy, International Business Transactions, International Human Rights Law and Policy Colloquium, International Trade Law, Legal Clinic: Advanced Immigrant Detainee, Legal Clinic: Asylum/Immigration, Public International Law, Seminar: International Criminal Law, Procedural, Seminar: International Criminal Law, Substantive, Seminar: International Law and the War on Terror, Seminar: Law and International Security, Seminar: Terrorism, U.S. Foreign Relations Law, Study Abroad: Beijing, China, Study Abroad: Buenos Aires, Argentina, Study Abroad: Dublin, Ireland, Study Abroad: Heredia, Costa Rica, Study Abroad: Madrid, Spain, Study Abroad: Prague, Czech Republic, In addition to the required core courses, students must complete one additional required course worth three (3) credit hours - International Human Rights Law and Policy Colloquium and twelve (12) credit hours of elective coursework.

Applicants who have earned degrees or received diplomas from foreign institutions should submit all materials required of first-time Juris Doctor applicants. In addition, applicants who have completed coursework or earned degrees from foreign institutions should submit their foreign transcripts through LSAC's Credential Assembly Service. They should have completed twenty-four semester hours of course work and earned a minimum grade point average of 2.5. Applicants who were educated in foreign countries, at institutions where English is not the primary language, should also register for the TOEFL.
