This program is designed to prepare students for a career in real estate finance and investment (REFI). Real estate, and specifically hotel real estate, is a rapidly expanding industry. Current property transaction and mortgage loan volumes are at very high levels. Both the U.S. and international capital markets are undergoing fundamental changes, as is the nature of real estate ownership. The Hotel School is at the forefront of knowledge in this field and will help prepare for a rewarding career. The REFI concentration consists of a set of courses designed to help you obtain the necessary knowledge, skills, and contacts to obtain real estate related employment. Some examples of employment opportunities are: asset management with a hotel REIT or real estate fund, financial analyst (Associate) with a Wall Street firm, appraisal/valuation with a consulting firm, loan origination and underwriting with an investment bank or pension fund advisor, and perhaps developing and owning hotels on their own.

Students seeking admission must have completed a bachelors’ degree. International applicants must have a minimum TOEFL score of 100 on the Internet-based test (iBT), 250 on the computer-based test (CBT) or 600 on the paper-based test (PBT); IELTS score minimums (writing, 6; reading, 6; listening, 6; speaking, 6; overall, 6).
