The modules are MUSIC THEORY AND HISTORY (12 quarter hours): Analytical Techniques or Analytical Studies (COM 400, 405) (4 quarter hours each), Two Courses chosen from the following (4 quarter hours each): Baroque Music (MUS 479), Classical Music (MUS 484), History of Opera (MUS 481), History of the Oratorio (MUS 420), Jazz History (JZZ 405), Jazz Style and Analysis (JZZ 406), Medieval Music (MUS 475), Renaissance Music (MUS 478), Romantic Music (MUS 485), World Music Cultures (MUS 482), 18th and 19th Century Wind History and Literature (MUS 435), 20th Century Wind History and Literature (MUS 436), 20th Century Music Before World War II (MUS 487), Music Since World War II (MUS 486), MUSIC RESEARCH (2 quarter hours): Music Research I (MUS 400) (2 quarter hours), KEYBOARD PERFORMANCE SPECIALIZATION (27 quarter hours): Applied Lessons: Private instruction on their instrument (6 quarters for 4 quarter hours), Art of the Piano (APM 431) (3 quarters for 1 quarter hour), ENSEMBLES (0 quarter hours): Large Ensemble: Students must enroll in at least 1 large ensemble for 6 quarters at 0 quarter hours, Chamber Ensemble: Students must enroll in at least 1 chamber ensemble for 3 quarters at 0 quarter hours, MUSIC ELECTIVES (4 quarter hours): Any 300 or 400 level course offered by the School of Music, GRADUATE RECITAL (APM 405) (0 quarter hours), COMPREHENSIVE EXAMS.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree conferred by a regionally accredited institution. The equivalent of DePaul's courses WRD 103 and WRD 104 with grades of C or better at an accredited US educational institution. International students should have a minimum TOEFL score of 80, no section lower than 17 (internet based TOEFL), 213 (computer based TOEFL), or 550 (paper based TOEFL); minimum IELTS score of 6.5 and a minimum Pearson Test of English Academic score of 53.
