The MPH Program through its mission and goals is committed to addressing the problems and finding solutions to the public health needs of underserved and minority communities of people of color in the areas of teaching, research, and service. This program prepares students to take on these public health challenges in two ways: Academic preparation through a comprehensive curriculum (46 credit hours) built on the principles of human rights and social justice; and an intensive (3 months/480 hours) practicum of field experience, public health leadership seminars and volunteer/community service. Graduates of the MPH Program who are trained to be future public health leaders have distinguished themselves in the public health workforce and at institutions of higher education. Many are employed with federal, state and local agencies, and non-governmental and community-based organizations in the areas of international health, health administration and policy and the health education/health promotion in the United States and internationally.
