This program prepares counselors to work in a variety of collegiate/academic, settings. The goals of this program include providing student’s functional knowledge of developmental process appropriate to college students and the academic community; consultation skills appropriate to the client population served; ability to communicate effectively with individuals having varied backgrounds, qualities, and experiences; ability to assist the client in the appropriate change or developmental process; ability to provide effective advising.

Applicant should be a graduate of a regionally accredited institution in the U.S., or of a similar foreign university whose requirements for the bachelor's degree are substantially equivalent to those at the University of Arkansas, may be considered for admission to the Graduate School. In addition to this, they should have equivalent of at least 16 years schooling; have pursued a curriculum comparable to one at the University of Arkansas; have earned at least a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average on the last 60 hours of bachelor's degree course work (approximately last two years of a four-year degree program). International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on paper- based) test 79 on internet-based test or a 6.5 on the IELTS.
