This program is designed to provide a comprehensive base in one of two areas: communications and networking, and electronic materials and semiconductors. It maintains the high academic standards of the University of Florida and there is no designation on the degree certificate to indicate the degree was completed via distance learning.

This program covers the following electrical engineering courses: EEE 5426 Intro Quantum Mechanics for Nano Devices; EEE 6397 Semiconductor Device Theory; EEE 5320 Bipolar Analog IC Design; EEE 6321 MOS Analog IC Design; EEL 5701 Discrete Signal Processing; EEE 5400 Future of Microelectronics Technology; EEE 5322 VLSI Circuits and Technology. Students also take the following three materials science and engineering courses: EMA 6616 Advanced Electronics Materials Processing; EMA 6510 Survey of Materials Characterization; EMA 6507 Scanning Electron Microscopy and Microanalysis.

Applicants applying for admission must hold a 4-year undergraduate degree in engineering from an ABET certified school to qualify for the Master of Engineering program. Students with undergraduate degrees in other majors may qualify for the Master of Science program. International students must submit a satisfactory score on one of the following: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language: computer based 213, paper based 550, web based 80), IELTS (International English Language Testing System: 6), MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery: 77) or successful completion of the University of Florida English Language Institute program.
