This program curriculum provides post-baccalaureate education in areas of computer-based music technology, multimedia and interactive design and multimedia production techniques. The primary objective of the program is to bring new and emerging digital arts technologies to students as they relate to a new discipline defined as music technology. The curriculum establishes the creative application of multimedia technology to video, audio and graphic production of arts and educational materials. Graduates of the MSMT program will be equipped to work in education or in the industry as members of computer-based training, computer based education, multimedia design and/or interactive technology teams. Participants develop skills in designing software, in authoring tools and languages, in applying multimedia concepts, and in managing technology facilities and projects. The music industry and arts education professions are logical career areas for MSMT graduates. Music teachers, both private and public, can use the MSMT degree to strengthen their knowledge and use of educational technology. Multimedia specialists have employment options in the business sector in personnel training, multimedia development, publishing, electronic communications and the entertainment business.

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree (if not in music, applicant must have formal musical training) with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale. International applicants must have a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based version), 213 (computer-based version), total score 79 (Internet-based version) with writing score of 18, speaking score of 18, listening score of 14, reading score of 19 or an IELTS score of 6.0 or successful completion of ELS Language Centers Intensive Program Level 112. Students from Japan must have a "Pre-First Grade" score on the STEP Eiken.
