This program is a unique graduate program providing specific deeper knowledge of supply chain practices and technologies in a structure that it allows it to be completed while students are working full time. Firms are interested in individuals who have sound business skills, decision-making capabilities and a solid understanding of the latest technology applications. They are also looking for leaders who have the confidence and capability to bring new ideas to the search for enhanced organizational performance. Individuals are returning to universities to acquire these skill sets and technological competencies to improve their ability to contribute to their organization and enhance their professional value. The MSSCM program augments a student’s understanding regarding the role of supply chain management in enterprise strategy. It introduces students to current SCM operating practices, analysis methods, technology applications and strategy development. It incorporates a rigorous cross-functional blend of courses focusing on the relationship of supply chain management to information technology and innovation processes. The supply management track is concerned with the role of supply management in enterprise supply chain and gives students an in-depth understanding of how supply management supports the overall strategy of a company. This track introduces students to strategic sourcing, supply market research, supplier analysis, negotiations, and other pertinent supply management practices or methodologies. The supply management courses are designed to prepare students for moving up executive ladders in procurement and supply management careers.

Students are required to complete their bachelor’s degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree, as well as high scholastic standing and suitable preparation for the intended field of study. Students should have obtained a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Students whose first language is not English and who are admitted to Michigan State University with regular admission must meet one of the following language proficiency requirements. They should have also obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 80 on internet based test (with no sub score below 19 for reading, listening, and speaking; no writing sub score below 22) and 550 on paper based test (with no sub score below 52). An IELTS score of 6.5 or higher is also required. An average score of at least 80 to 85 with no subs score below 80 is required for Michigan State University English Language Test (MSUELT) and an average score of 83 or higher (with no sub score below 80) is required for Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB).
