This program is designed for health care professionals, including nurses and physicians, who are involved in health care education. The core of this program is two new courses specifically designed to address issues and pedagogical methods in health care education. Graduates of this program will be qualified to teach in a variety of settings such as academic institutions or health care organizations, and to a variety of constituencies including students and professionals pursuing continuing education opportunities. This degree program allows students maximum flexibility in designing an individualized course of study, with an option to design independent study courses, based on participation in ongoing medical or health care school-based research and/or reforms conducted by Warner Graduate School of Education faculty, School of Medicine and Dentistry faculty or School of Nursing faculty.

Applicants must have received a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent by the time they enter the program at Warner, with the exception of those applying to early admission programs. Applicants must have the ability to do graduate work at the University of Rochester, as demonstrated by their past academic performance and their academic writing skills. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient communication and interpersonal skills to perform well in their chosen career in education. Applicants career goals, professional interests, academic background, attitudes and philosophy must be consistent with the programs offered by the Warner School and its stated mission.
