This is one of the most diverse and gratifying educational programs in the country. The purpose of this program is to educate the upcoming leaders in the Construction industry. An extra dimension in this graduate program is the opportunity for Industry-University Cooperative. This course will provide a working knowledge of land development. Items will be covered in the sequence of land development: initial land evaluation; obtaining financing, land development entity formation; site design and layout; covenants, conditions and restrictions; obtaining zoning, easements and other governmental approvals; development of cost estimation plans; construction and inspections; and bonding. This is not a land development cost estimation course, but such concepts will be integrated into the course material as appropriate. Students will be involved in projects to be presented in class simulating a real developer’s activities in the various stages. Since this is an introductory real estate course, the projects will be done in the context of developing a custom residential subdivision. Concepts covered in this course will provide a foundation of land development. MS in Technology is project-based degree.

This program module includes core courses: TECH 50700 - Measurement and Evaluation in Industry, TECH 58100 (TECH 508) - Quality and Productivity in Industry and Technology, TECH 64600 - Analysis of Research in Industry and Technology, Construction Engineering Management Technology Concentration: TECH 58100 Management of Construction Field Operations, TECH 58100 Temporary Structures, TECH 58100 Entrepreneurship in Construction, TECH 58100 Strategic Asset Management for Infrastructure and Trenchless Technology, TECH 58100 Land Development, TECH 58100 Project Economic Feasibility and Decision-Making, TECH 58100 Construction Conflict Management, students entering this program without undergraduate construction background or substantial construction experience should anticipate taking the following CEMT undergraduate courses. These courses will fulfill program course requirements: CEMT 342 Construction Cost Estimating and Bidding, CEMT 341 Construction Scheduling, students entering this program without a technical undergraduate background may be required to take other undergraduate CEMT courses as a pre-requisite. These courses may include: CEMT 430 Solis and Foundations, CEMT 452 Hydraulics and Drainage, CEMT 347 Construction Contract Administration and Specifications, CEMT 494 Engineering Economics for Construction, CEMT 280 Quantity Surveys.

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited technology, engineering, or a related discipline with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale or overall “B” average equivalent. International applicants must have a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based version), 213 (computer-based version), total score 79 (Internet-based version) with writing score of 18, speaking score of 18, listening score of 14, reading score of 19 or an IELTS score of 6.0 or successful completion of ELS Language Centers Intensive Program Level 112. Students from Japan must have a "Pre-First Grade" score on the STEP Eiken.
