पाठ्यक्रमबारे सारश
This program prepares students to effectively deliver and manage the capital facilities and infrastructure that are critical to worldwide productivity. The curriculum builds upon a student’s technical background to develop managerial and financial expertise through a mix of fundamental and advanced areas of study. The courses expose students to the activities and issues of planning, financing, procuring, constructing, and managing the built environment in a suite of graduate-level courses. Columbia students apply and discover concepts, methods, and strategies for improving the delivery and management of constructed facilities and systems. This breadth introduces our students to the variety of managerial functions found in the modern construction industry and prepares them for positions of leadership and responsibility within industry, government, or academia.

The Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics focuses on two broad areas of instruction and research. The first, the classical field of civil engineering, deals with the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of structures and the infrastructure. These include buildings, foundations, bridges, transportation facilities, nuclear and conventional power plants, hydraulic structures, and other facilities essential to society. The second is the science of mechanics and its applications to various engineering disciplines. Frequently referred to as applied mechanics, it includes the study of the mechanical properties of materials, stress analysis of stationary and movable structures, the dynamics and vibrations of complex structures, aero- and hydrodynamics, micro- and nanomechanics, and the mechanics of biological and energy systems. The labs and facilities are renowned for testing and design in the field of civil engineering and engineering mechanics. The Robert A. W. Carleton Strength of Materials Laboratory is our main facility, fully equipped for research into all types of engineering materials and structural elements. It also houses the Heffner Laboratory for Hydrologic Research, the centrifuge center, and the Eugene Mindlin Laboratory for Structural Deterioration Research.

आवास सम्बन्धी विस्तृत जानकारी
Columbia University Housing Services provide housing facilities for approximately 5,200 undergraduate students. 94 percent of all undergraduates and 99 percent of all first-year students live in residence halls. There are 17 undergraduate residence halls and 16 brownstones (which house 10 fraternities, 3 sororities, and 3 special interest communities) located on and around the Morningside campus. In addition, they also provide summer, conference, and guest accommodations. All first-year students are housed on South Lawn, the heart of undergraduate life at Columbia. Proximity to Butler Library, Alfred Lerner Hall, John Jay Dining Hall, Health Services, and the First Year/Sophomore Academic Advising Center make these residence halls convenient and have a connection to the Columbia community. Four different housing options are available to first years: Carman, Furnald, John Jay, and the all-class integrated Living Learning Center in Wallach and Hartley. Each hall has a unique set of features and benefits, from singles to corridor-style living. Room Selection for current students is an active process with many choices and options, including, but not limited to, living with friends in a suite or living alone in a single, air-conditioned room on a corridor. Laundry View is an Internet application that allows students to monitor the status of washers and dryers in connected laundry rooms through a Web browser. Laundry View was developed in response to requests for greater control over laundry activities. Since many people tend to do their laundry during similar time periods, it results in busy laundry rooms. The details of the Residence Halls can be found in the website given below http://www.columbia.edu/cu/housing/docs/residence-halls/index.html. For general inquiries about the housing students can mail to housing@columbia.edu.
