This program combines the fields of applied ethics, philosophy, social work, spirituality and religion, and trauma and bereavement studies. This concentration is unique among the programs in ethics and spirituality of care in that it prepares its graduates to work in palliative centers and hospices and as trauma and bereavement counselors. The program offers skills needed for professional careers sought in ministry, social and community services, hospital and hospice counseling, veteran affairs, contemplative education, and other services provided by chaplains of diverse faiths as well as by non-religious personnel and bereavement counselors engaged in ethics and spirituality of care.

Applicant should have a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree from an international institution that is officially recognized by that country. They should have equivalent to a B average in the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate coursework. They should have a minimum TOEFL requirement of 550 (PBT) or 80 (iBT). The minimum IELTS is an overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band below a 6.0.
