The specialization in Health Sector Management is designed to introduce students to the unique aspects of health care markets and the special challenges of managing in the health care sector. These challenges include an unusual concentration of: non-competitive markets; third-party payers; monopolistic providers; and government involvement as payer, provider, and regulator.The specialization in Health Sector Management requires nine hours of HSM coursework. All courses are part of the core requirements for the Master in Health Sector Management (MHSM) program, so students who take the specialization have the option of counting those credits toward a concurrent MBA/MHSM degree.

Admission to all Master’s programs requires a bachelor’s degree and for Doctoral programs requires Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university. The student must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours of graduate level study with a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.00 or higher. The minimum TOEFL requirement is 550 (PBT) or 213 (CBT) or 83 (iBT). The minimum IELTS is an overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band below a 6.0.
