This program is designed to prepare elementary and secondary school teachers to assume leadership roles as principals, vice principals, program and department leaders, or instructional technology specialists. Candidates are recommended for the master’s degree and/or principal certification. Satisfactory completion of the Superintendent Certificate qualifies candidates for the superintendency as well as other district-level leadership roles.

Students should have a four-year baccalaureate degree from a U.S. college or university that was regionally accredited at the time the degree was conferred, or an equivalent baccalaureate degree from a foreign university; the degree must be appropriate to the master’s study intended. They should have a 3.0 undergraduate grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in the last 90-quarter or 60-semester hours of study. Students who are not native speakers of English must demonstrate competence in written and spoken English. This can be done by submitting a satisfactory score on the international TOEFL, taken within one year of the date of application. A minimum composite score of 567 is required for the paper-based test; the scaled score for the computer-based test is 227; the Internet-based score is 86.
