This program is designed to prepare specialists in selected areas of clinical practice. Through the combination of classroom discussion and guided clinical practice, students develop clinical expertise and in-depth knowledge in their selected areas of practice. Integrated with the specialty areas is the development of the leadership role through problem-solving involvement in the clinical setting, and preparation of the student to contribute knowledge through scientific inquiry.

Master's Degree 43 credits (672 clinical hours)*: Professional core: NUR403 Ethics and Public Policy in the Health Care System 3 credits; NUR405 Principles of Evidence-based Practice for Advanced Nursing Practice I 3 credits; NUR406 Principles of Evidence-based Practice for Advanced Nursing Practice II 3 credits; NUR410 Advanced Health Assessment 4 credits; NUR407A Physiological and Pathophysiological Bases of Advanced Nursing Practice 5 credits; NUR419 Advanced Pharmacology 3 credits. Clinical specialty courses: NUR411 Evaluation and Management of Common Health Problems of Adults 5 credits, 112 clinical hours; NUR424 Acute Care Nurse Practitioner 1 7 credits, 224 clinical hours; NUR425 Acute Care Nurse Practitioner II 10 credits, 336 clinical hours. *Degree plan subject to change.

Applicants must have: Completion of a Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing; Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing; RN licensure within the United States or U.S. territory; Cumulative GPA of 3.0 in baccalaureate nursing program preferred; Standardized Test from either Graduate Record Exam or Miller Analogies Test is optional; Statistics course with a grade of C or above; Professional statement; Two letters of reference; Personal interview with faculty member is at the discretion of the program faculty; Clinical experience: 1 year: ACNP (med/surg experience required); CCF (pediatric experience preferred), PNP/NNP (2 years NICU experience required).
