This program's objective is to educate students in the general discipline of psychology, with an emphasis on training competent academics and practitioners in the area of human behavior at work and in organizations. The program places a heavy emphasis on developing basic and applied research and analytical skills. Students are expected to be actively involved in research during their graduate training. Current research spans the traditional domains of I/O psychology. Student and faculty research interests can be found on their individual web pages.

The program modules include: PSY 1001 General Psychology 4 credits, STA 2100 Statistics for Social Science 3 credits. The required courses (10 credits) are PSY 3181 Industrial and Organizational Psychology 3 credits, PSY 4012 Evolution of Modern Psychology 3 credits, PSY 5020 Experimental Psychology 4 credits. The elective courses (14–15 credits): At least four of the following foundation courses: PSY 3055 Abnormal Psychology, PSY 3056 Social Psychology, PSY 3059 Developmental Psychology: Personality in Childhood and Adolescence, PSY 3060 Developmental Psychology: Adult Personality, PSY 3065 The Psychology of Motivation, PSY 3070 Physiological Psychology, PSY 3080 Psychology of Attention and Perception, PSY 3081 Cognitive Psychology, PSY 4061 Theories of Personality, PSY 5030 Research Practicum in Psychology. One or two applied psychology electives: SY 3058 Small Group Processes, PSY 3069 Psychology and Law, PSY 3182 Interviewing Techniques, PSY 4010 Diversity in the Workplace, PSY 4013 Advanced Personnel Psychology, PSY 4015 Emotions in the Workplace, PSY 4035 Practicum in Community Psychological Services.

Students should possess an acceptable bachelor's or bachelors and master's degree from an accredited institution whose requirements for the particular degree are substantially equivalent to those of the City University of New York. The average TOEFL score of accepted applicants is 650. Please be advised that English language proficiency is a very important part of the application process, and a low TOEFL score severely hinders your likelihood of acceptance. The average GMAT score of accepted applicants is 700. As in other programs, the higher your GMAT score, the more likely your chances of acceptance. The GMAT score is a critical part of the application process. Your application will be reviewed without it, but we will not be able to make any decision until we get an official score.
