The program takes an interdisciplinary approach to the field of management and its influence on the development of individuals and society. Students will conduct original research in a specific area of interest as they have the opportunity to learn theories, concepts, and techniques that provide the foundation for sound management decision-making. It helps prepare students to meet the challenges and opportunities in their profession and their organization; they study ways to facilitate positive social change; and help enhance their capabilities as a researcher, scholar, manager, or consultant. This programs requires 20 days of residency (two four-day and two six-day residencies). The Self-directed option allows students to study independently while working with a faculty mentor to complete scholarly papers and study topics that apply to their interests. They will pursue faculty-guided independent research through Walden’s signature Knowledge Area Modules (KAMs) and face-to-face residencies, in order to demonstrate academic mastery of each subject. This specialization allows either practicing engineers who plan a move into management or engineers who are already managers to learn the social and behavioral aspects of management.

Applicants must have : A master’s degree in a discipline or field related to the program/specialization for which application is made, from a U.S. school accredited by a regional, professional/specialized, or national accrediting organization recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or from an appropriately accredited non-U.S. institution; Three years of professional/academic experience related to the program for which application is made (preferred); Names of and contact information for two persons qualified to comment knowledgeably on the applicant’s skills and professional and/or academic qualifications for study in the intended field.
