पाठ्यक्रमबारे सारश

The objective of this program in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is to provide graduate students at the Ph.D. level with expertise in the area broadly defined as the pharmaceutical sciences, with emphasis in physical pharmacy, biopharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics (at the molecular and cellular level), pharmaceutical analysis, and medicinal chemistry. All graduate students receive training in each of these areas and are expected to be familiar with the current literature in these fields. The particular area chosen by the graduate student for a research topic receives special emphasis. Students are expected to demonstrate proficiency, knowledge, and research capabilities in his or her chosen specialty, in addition to a fundamental appreciation of all those areas encompassed by the pharmaceutical sciences.

A minimum of 90 semester hours of undergraduate course at an accredited institution. The pre-pharmacy curriculum courses are not offered at the UT Health Science Center. Required courses are outlined below. A college GPA of 2.5 is required with a grade of “C” or higher for each required pre-pharmacy course.; most successful applicants will have a GPA above the 3.0 level and the average accepted student GPA is approximately 3.35. Applicants must complete the national Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT). A minimum composite of 40th percentile is required, as well as a minimum 25th percentile in each individual section. The average PCAT for the accepted applicant is approximately the 80th percentile. The College of Pharmacy strongly advises that applicants take the PCAT in the Fall prior to the year of planned enrollment and not later than January.
