The Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration program prepares the student to meet the challenges of governance and effective service delivery as government and nonprofit institutions increasingly become intertwined. They’ll integrate scholarly research with their professional experience, gaining the knowledge, confidence, and expertise to create effective solutions. This programs requires 20 days of residency (two four-day and two six-day residencies). This option is a structured program of study comprised of online courses. Students will follow a specific plan for completion and may be eligible to graduate in three years. They’ll also have the opportunity to collaborate with peers and faculty through online discussions and face-to-face residencies. In this specialization, students will examine how legal decisions and the law have a significant impact on the creation of public policy. They will discover the relationships between law and public policy, and learn how to access vital legal knowledge available to public policy practitioners. Gain a solid background in legal concepts, cases, and current trends that will give them a head start if they decide to pursue a law degree or if they encounter legal questions in their workplace.

Applicants must have : A master’s degree in a discipline or field related to the program/specialization for which application is made, from a U.S. school accredited by a regional, professional/specialized, or national accrediting organization recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or from an appropriately accredited non-U.S. institution; Three years of professional/academic experience related to the program for which application is made (preferred); Names of and contact information for two persons qualified to comment knowledgeably on the applicant’s skills and professional and/or academic qualifications for study in the intended field.
