The Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration program prepares the student to meet the challenges of governance and effective service delivery as government and nonprofit institutions increasingly become intertwined. They’ll integrate scholarly research with their professional experience, gaining the knowledge, confidence, and expertise to create effective solutions. This programs requires 20 days of residency (two four-day and two six-day residencies). This option is a structured program of study comprised of online courses. Students will follow a specific plan for completion and may be eligible to graduate in three years. They’ll also have the opportunity to collaborate with peers and faculty through online discussions and face-to-face residencies. With this specialization, students will learn how to create and maintain sustainable communities that are environmentally sound, economically prosperous, and socially equitable. Explore the interrelated elements that make a community viable and access the tools and resources for sustainable community development. Be prepared to succeed in such roles as a town manager, department head, or director of a social service organization.

Applicants must have : A master’s degree in a discipline or field related to the program/specialization for which application is made, from a U.S. school accredited by a regional, professional/specialized, or national accrediting organization recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or from an appropriately accredited non-U.S. institution; Three years of professional/academic experience related to the program for which application is made (preferred); Names of and contact information for two persons qualified to comment knowledgeably on the applicant’s skills and professional and/or academic qualifications for study in the intended field.
