The Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration program prepares the student to meet the challenges of governance and effective service delivery as government and nonprofit institutions increasingly become intertwined. They’ll integrate scholarly research with their professional experience, gaining the knowledge, confidence, and expertise to create effective solutions. This programs requires 20 days of residency (two four-day and two six-day residencies). This option is a more flexible program of study that includes online courses and Walden’s signature Knowledge Area Modules (KAMs). Students study independently and work closely with a faculty mentor to apply their research to an area in which they are passionate. This mixed-model option was updated to include new courses on timely policy issues and a reduction in credit requirements for graduation. This specialization prepares homeland security professionals to implement protective measures without compromising individual rights and freedoms. With this knowledge, students are equipped to effectively develop policy to protect individuals’ safety and freedom.

Applicants must have : A master’s degree in a discipline or field related to the program/specialization for which application is made, from a U.S. school accredited by a regional, professional/specialized, or national accrediting organization recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or from an appropriately accredited non-U.S. institution; Three years of professional/academic experience related to the program for which application is made (preferred); Names of and contact information for two persons qualified to comment knowledgeably on the applicant’s skills and professional and/or academic qualifications for study in the intended field.
