This program targets a small number of highly motivated students who seek to combine pharmacy education suitable for professional licensure with advanced research-based training in pharmaceutical sciences. Students completing this program will earn consecutive dual degrees, the Pharm.D. and the Ph.D. Students in the dual track are afforded early acceptance into the Ph.D. program and, if they successfully complete the Pharm.D. curriculum, a modified graduate curriculum will be tailored to shorten the total time required to complete both degrees. Students must meet the admission requirements of both programs and apply to the Ph.D. program in the spring semester of the second professional year as they complete the B.S. in Pharmacy Studies. This program deals with those factors bearing on the design of drug delivery systems that are safe and efficacious. The necessary concern with such factors as the stability of the drug molecule in a multitude of environments, the release of the drug from various dosage forms, surface and colloid chemistry, and the subsequent absorption, metabolism, and excretion of the drug requires a diversified educational and research experience.

Students must hold a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 for the entire undergraduate record or a grade point average of at least 3.0 for the last two undergraduate years. Students should have the test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) minimum overall score of 550 for the paper-based test, 213 for the computer-based test, or 80 for the internet-based test is required or International English Language Testing System (IELTS), applicants need an average overall band score of at least 6.5. Only the scores from the academic module, not the general training module, are applicable.
