This program is a cooperative program with the Department of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at NDSU (North Dakota State University, Fargo). Students enrolling at MSUM take their liberal studies classes (English, Psychology, Math, Art, etc.) at MSUM, and their Architecture classes at NDSU using the Tri-College agreement. At the end of the second year, the students transfer to NDSU to complete the program. Students in the program at MSUM are given equal consideration for enrollment as NDSU students. Some students start at MSUM for the smaller classes and personal attention offered in those critical foundation classes. For other with Minnesota financial aid or South Dakota reciprocity, Pre-Architecture provides opportunity to start the programs at a Minnesota school. Students committed to Dragon athletics can play three and sometimes four years of eligibility before transferring, depending on their plan of study. They should work closely with their advisor to assure eligibility and transfer compliance.

Applicant must have completed their secondary education within their home country (usually 12 years) and be entitled to acceptance into the universities in their home countries. If grade reports are not issued with a U.S. 4.0 grading system, then the Coordinator of International Student Affairs will evaluate applicant’s grade report or mark sheet to determine eligibility. They must have English proficiency as evidenced by a TOEFL score (500 on paper test, 173 on computer test, or 61 on internet test), IELTS score (5.5 or better), MELAB score (80 or better), completion of ELS course 112, or completion of Kaplan course.
