My advice would be to make sure you get scholarships before you land here, by contacting the admission officials or concerned professors. Else, it would become very difficult later on. Though, many scholarships and financial aids are made available by the university.
I wrote GRE and TOEFL. I prepared with my group of friends. That was more effective than joining coaching classes. I had done my homework well. I had done my own research as to which university fits to my criteria. Once you have clarity as to what you want to do, then you dont need a counselor to guide you. I took my VISA interview at Chennai. The interview was very easy. I booked Lufthansa airlines and tickets were readily available. I landed in Sky harbor international airport. Sky harbor is quite near to Tempe. I had standard luggage rules. No immigration issues or meet and greet service.
I received RA. Many other aids were easily available for all the students.
The program was excellent. I specialized in database, and I am proud of my professors. All were highly educated, knowledgeable and friendly. The university offered excellent infrastructure for its students.
I stayed with 3 roommates outside campus. The city is very beautiful.
The University had placement cell. When I graduated things were easy for all the students. However, things have changed a lot now. ASU boasts of a wide and active alumni network. Alumni often helps by providing aid or with internships. Many job fairs are conducted and college often helps students.
