I had a hard time coping with the life as an international student. This is my first experience studying abroad, it is very different. I have met some awesome people since my first sem here. They are there for me all this while. My experience studying here so far is good and I am adapting well as days go by.
It was not too hard. My parents paid the agent to settle it for me. My duty was to come here with other Malaysian students and guided by the agent. It was very nice to be guided by the agent for a week. Orientation is very important to get use to this place/new place.
Students can look for many sources of funding. ANU provides students that are very good in studies with scholarship. The information can be found in the uni website.I have asked about it after looking at the brochures around the office.
Coming from a Malay school, I had hard time switching everything to English. After a year plus of staying here, my English improved a lot and I can write in English without much major mistakes. The lecturers and tutors are friendly. Some of them provide one to one consultation to improve our assignments and understanding.
Facilities are great. Even though the computer lab could be pack in the day, it is accessible at night. Some times I spent time doing assignments over night in uni. And, no worries, it is safe. ANU has guards to keep students safe in uni compound.
I really hope I will get a good job. After all, a degree will ease much problem in searching for job. And, studying abroad will certainly help us to nail the interview part.
