If you are interested in going to school in Washington, DC, GW is the best place to go. Unlike Georgetown, American, Catholic or any other DC university, GW is in the heart of Washington, just a few blocks away from the White House. Although the campus loses points in aesthetics due to its location, the opportunity to go to school right next to the White House is an experience I will never regret. Don't take college rankings seriously. GW is a great upper-tier school. Keep in mind that GW is THE fastest growing school in the rankings and will continue to do so. The school is constantly expanding and constantly getting better. I, personally, had the choice of here, CMU, or Purdue, and I chose here, I hope you do the same. The majority of students here are actually very nice. There is a large number of them that are truly rich brats, but they're actually in the minority. The large majority of students at GW are attractive and intelligent. I was really impressed with the people I found here, barring an annoying few. To tell you the truth, there are a few things I don't like about GW, most of which are complaints about how impersonal and money-grubbing it is on it's surface, but if you think you'll find any college that's better...You're kidding yourselves. Colleges are businesses, that's why they want students. The high tuition has caused a lot of nepotism towards richer families, so spoiled brat syndrome does run rampant, but it's dissipating as GW becomes a better institution.
The teachers are relatively good. An advantage of being in a private school is that classes are relatively small and interactive. I'm majoring in computer science. For the international students : I guarantee that you'll never find a better place than GW to study. I say this because the teachers I've had have all been experts in their fields.Students often get internships at the CIA, DOD, DOJ, and elsewhere in the government. The teachers are relatively good. For the international students : I guarantee that you'll never find a better place than GW to study. I say this because the teachers I've had have all been experts in their fields.Students often get internships at the CIA, DOD, DOJ, and elsewhere in the government. Yes, GWU is expensive, but it also has a plethora of financial aid available. You can get a 10,000 scholarship, automatically, with a 3.7 GPA your first year.
