It was a good learning experience.
Application was sent through email, followed by a telephonic interview. Needed a J1 VISA. Travel was easy, landed at Roanoke airport. I flew by Lufthansa. The airlines didn't offer any student fare. Roanoke airport is an hour away from Virginia tech. Excess baggage was allowed. The University had arranged for meet and greet service. I didn't face any immigration issues.
Internship was well structured. It's a study program and then had to apply the concepts learned. All university facilities including library and lab were accessible.
Accommodation was provided by the University. Weather was good. Life at US was good. Social life was enjoyable.
