Universities in UK are known for their academic excellence. Considering going abroad to UK are known for their academic excellence. Considering going abroad for higher education is a important decision- I believe I have made the right choice. The school of economics has a reputed academic staff that brings out the best in one. From freshers week to the end of my first semester, it has been a completely new experience. The accommodation is one aspect that can be improved upon. Catered food is not up to standard and the rooms are a bit too small.
Getting into the school of economics required top grades. The visa application process in India is straight forward interviews are not required. However counselling organisations in new Delhi are not effective for UCAS self-research is required. Counsellors are of no use in deciding which universities to apply to. However these organisations are effective after the application process as they have contacts.
Nobel laureates have graduated from the school of economics. The core modules have quality lecturers. I have nine hours of lecture in a week along with two-three hours of tutorial. Worksheets for tutorials need to be completed beforehand. As tutorials are in groups of 10-15, they are an excellent way to interact with fellow students as well as the teacher. However, self- study is encouraged. To supplement 12 hours of teaching a week, 30 hours of reading is required. Attaining higher marks (above 70 per cent) in exams, coursework or essays requires regular studies and knowledge beyond text.
Facilities are great. There are sports centres located in both campuses, student union shops, 24/7 libraries located all over and a lot more. Free bus service for students between both campuses. Accommodation is about 5000gbp for one year at university. Have not looked for any jobs yet. A lot of societies are there. Eg, Indian soc, band soc, math soc. There is a society for almost any extra-curricular activity. Even bar tending. Events are organised multiple times in a week so entertainment is guaranteed if you are looking for it.
Have not given it a thought.
