This TAFE is one of the best tafe in Melbourne. I spend most of my time in tafe studying, library, internet, clubs. It is located in the city and easy to catch transport. In Melbourne there is lot of areas to choose when we are studying. I enjoy the relationship of the teachers and students which is very friendly and hard to find in my country. We are always given more confidence and support in everything we do by the teachers. It has a good study atmosphere. The other international students who want to come here to study I would like to say that the students here are from different countries in the world and you can know more about other cultures and people when you are studying.
I contacted the tafe online about the course, they sent me prospectus. I chose this tafe on my own when I was searching for colleges in Melbourne. I then went to an agency who helped me with my visa. They arranged my flights also.
I have heard that if international students do well, they will get scholarship automatically.
My course involves building time management and organizational skills. The subjects are very specific and precise. I am studying Diploma of food science and technology. The classes are interesting but there is always breaks in between so that we don’t get bored. It’s a well organized course. The lecturers are encouraging and expect us to maintain good standard, they prepare us for the outside world.
When I was new, I found the orienatation very helpful, they gave us info on how to live in Melbourne and which places to visit. Also, there is lot of information centers in the city from which we can get info on Melbourne and interesting places. Theres free tourist bus which takes city tours etc. I still haven’t visited all places in Melbourne and when I have long breaks I usually go for holidays around Melbourne. There is student co-ordinator who looks after international students and if we have any problems we can approach them and ask for advice. We have labs, library, internet, clubs and societies. There is assistance in finding jobs also finding accommodation.
This course is well respected in the industry and the previous students who passed out, majority got employed very soon whereas some went to study further. I will join the alumni after I get my diploma.
