UCB is a totally fantastic university and the cutting edge research going on here is mind blowing. The university is well known for all departments and it is a very tough university to get admit from, in the sense the school is very selective and the number of MS admits is always subject to change. Like many top schools they also prefer PhD applicants. While coming here be sure to have an IDPL because here they allow us to drive cars having Indian license.
Getting into UCB is tough and for this your academics, projects and test scores should be very good supported by strong letters of recommendation. I suggest students mailing seniors or professors to see if there are any vacancy with the professor you want to work under and see if he has funds to sponsor your education and research. The visa process went well for me so did my travel.
The courses here are tough and challenging and more emphasis is given to projects rather than assignments and exams. The number of lecture hours vary and it depends on the course work opted by students. Getting funding for MS is tough. The professors are very intellectual but they are student friendly. The classrooms are all multimedia classrooms.
The College has good facilities and their football stadium is awesome. Their arch rival is Stanford. Lots of places to see here, like LA, LV and many more. Lots of places to hang out and have fun. There are many clubs having one event or the other on campus always for students.
Many companies come here for on campus recruitments. Alumni network exists though I do not know about their involvement with placements.
