To me, things are not very good, but not too bad. I come to classes some days in the week, got a job to do and hang out with friends in my spare time, but you know, sometimes I still feel lonely when staying in my room, Melbourne is too quiet. Well, if somebody is thinking of coming to Swinburne for study, I would advise you to pay attention on your study. Hard working is good, but too much will make you stressed, just be serious when studying, things will be fine.

My application to Swinburne results in an offer letter so quick, then I continued applying for visa. It took me few months to process but ultimately, nothing went wrong. I was so happy when holding that visa in my hand. I have no knowledge about what to do to apply for visa or financial document because I had an agent do those things for me, so I advise you to find a good agent, such as IDP, they are very well known and will not charge you any fee for the service.

My study is so so. I do not really like it but they said it is good for PR so I took it. I find the lecturers and tutors are very strict, their standards are so high that many of us are worrying about our results later. But I also think that they are very nice to us, helpful and supportive I mean. I used to ask them about my assignment, and they explain very detail about the structure, the standards and even tell me where and how to search for information. If there is any students having problems with English, they’d better go and ask for help, I never saw the English help service but I do not think that I need it so I have no idea about how they help. Students should use teachers as a good sources because they know exactly what you need to do to get a good mark, and you should ask before it’s too late, people can spend 5 minutes a day to explain the lesson for you but not hours a day, that’s your right anyway.

Life here is not like I expected when I was preparing to go to Australia. I thought it would be busier and has night life but it’s just too quiet. I wonder if other cities like Sydney, Brisbane or Canberra would be different or it’s just Australian’s culture. One more thing, I used to hear that Melbourne has lots of part time jobs and it is easy to find one, but I had been looking for so long and have just found one lately, thus I just wanna work hard, so I do not have time for any association, I just have some friends and friends of friends from my country to go with in my free time.

I hope my career opportunity would be better after I graduate. But I want to study more, I would rather go somewhere else to continue higher education. The uni has no advertisement about the alumni so I do not even know what it is and what it is for.
