One of the best things about Middlesex is the support and encouragement given to students looking to put what they have been taught into practice.
My final year allowed me to participate on three different work placements (a local newspaper, a local radio station and a national sport magazine), thus gaining an overall impression of the (media) industry in which I hope to have a career. My placement at Fourfourtwo Football Magazine was particularly inspiring, as it allowed me to see just how things work at the highest levels of my chosen sector, as well as giving me the opportunity to make an impression at a well-recognised company.
I was able to utilise the writing skills I had picked up on my course, as well as demonstrating and improving my personal attributes, such as organisation and good time-keeping. I believe that the experience has greatly assisted my chances of gaining employment, by building my portfolio along with a positive reference from a high-profile business.
