The Biomed program offered by the University of Sheffield is an excellent one. The facilities in the university are topnotch. Iam really enjoying my program. I would recommend my university and department to other Indian students.
For admission I had done my A-levels from Mumbai and got the required grades. My admission was done via NDTV scholarhunt program, so I had exam questions of a different type not done by students applying through UCAS. The visa was an easy process prepared by the British Consulate. The airlines ticket was arranged by BA for Manchester Airport. I was picked up by the meet and greet service from the university so everything was smooth and fine from India to Sheffield.
The program has an excellent structure with good opportunities for research/medicine further on.
The professors are good and extremely clear in lecture deliveries. I live in catered university accommodation. As the accommodation was only opened this year everything is great and excellent from the rooms, common dining room, IT room and cafes to the bar. The lecture halls are huge and have good technical equipments allowing interactive lectures. The library is up to date with all books required for the lectures and in sufficient numbers. It is extremely easy to get part time jobs in the university. The night life is vibrant, active and extremely fun. There are many international student societies.
There is a Jobshop for university students making it easy for international students to get jobs. There is a campus placement place which gets advertised by Jobshop but has competition bcoz of its popularity. There is an Alumni Society in the University which provides useful info for graduate placements and jobs.
