The Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engieering program which offerred as part of the Singapore-MIT alliance is amazing fun. MIT ranked No. 1 in engineering by the U.S. News & World Report for its programs in aeronautics and astronautics, chemical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, materials sciences and mechanical engineering.Dual Master?s Degrees are offered with 18 month timelines.
Applicants must have received a Bachelor's degree by the commencement of the academic year.- Need to demonstrate an excellent undergraduate background in: (very important!). Reactor Engineering (e.g. textbook by Fogler or equivalent), Thermodynamics (e.g. textbook by Smith, van Ness, Abbott or eq.), Transport (e.g. textbook by Bird, Stewart, Lightfoot or equivalent),- Need TOEFL (for non-native English speakers) and GRE. Applicants are admitted independently and separately to both MIT and NUS/NTU. Evidence of past accomplishments, academic potential, leadership potential, the potential for producing innovative research, creativity, and morals and ethics (but not exclusively) are considered.
SMA Graduate Fellowship provides full support for: Full tuition at both NUS/NTU, and MIT ; Housing allowance whilst resident at MIT ; Stipend ; Travel between Singapore and MIT, and between Singapore and Practice School stations.
Students take core graduate courses during one semester at MIT and a second semester in Singapore. In lieu of a Master's thesis, students perform consulting projects at Practice School Stations located in Corporations and Research Institutes.Focus is on leadership and problem solving. MIT faculty resident on-site direct the Practice School Stations. The only possible drawback may be the fact that there are not too many web casts.
The biggest advantage of Singapore is the excellent bus service in the country. The city life is great with great parties. The Society of Indian Scholars an Indian student association in Singapore orgnizes various events.
Alumni are leaders in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
