I finished my MSc in Economics at the University of Exeter in 1996. Seven years later I had no doubts in choosing Exeter to study for a PhD because it is so peaceful, safe and more importantly the community at the university was so friendly and the facilities provided were excellent.

The School also encourages research students to present their research findings at international conferences by allocating some money for this purpose. I benefited from the scheme having the opportunity to present my research findings in two prestigious international conferences.

I knew the Business School ranked high in terms of research and that there were a lot of opportunities for graduate students to benefit from the weekly external seminars and for graduate students to present their findings.

The skills seminars for research students delivered by the Graduate School greatly benefited me - I gained my confidence and they made my PhD journey smoother and less difficult than I initially thought. I believe that my success was not only based on my hard work and persistence but on a good relationship with my supervisors. Their superb supervisions enabled me to submit my chapters on time. With regard to the welfare of students, I think Exeter University should be given A star. During my study I did face some difficulties but the excellent staff at the International Office helped me to sort out these matters. To me Exeter University is 'probably the best university in the world'.
