Know where you are headed. Lots of people have different expectations from the course and fail to realize its full potential. LSE is a social science university, its focus is not like MBA school.

I took the GRE and TOEFL tests before applying for this course. I prepared on my own and did not attend any sort of coaching classes. I did not take the help of an educational counselor. I needed a Students Visa- the process of applying was quite simple- I submitted all the required documents and the Visa took three days to process. I flew British Airways and was entitled to the Students fare. I was allowed to carry some amount of extra baggage as well. I landed at London Heathrow, where there was a 'Meet and Greet' service, which I missed.

I did not receive any scholarship and neither did I have any part-time job.

I was quite happy with the way my course was structured. In terms of teaching, I do feel there is room for improvement. Our lecture halls were excellent and the library was very good too.

I lived in housing provided by the University. The hall was in central London, nearest to the university. It was very spacious and exclusive. Simply put- the night life in London is insane! The social scene is super- there’s lots to do, many places to see. The weather in the city is great- partly cloudy, mostly windy. There is an International student society at LSE which organizes interesting events which may be theme-related, culturally relevant. They have also lead socio-political rallies in the past.

LSE has a placement cell but it is not easy for International post-graduate students to find jobs. There are no campus recruitments. However, Career fairs do take place where global companies attend. I don't think it is too difficult to get a work permit. It works on a points system- Score points and present the correct documents. There is an Alumni Cell at LSE, which is pretty active. It is very important to network, so yes, the Alumni could be very useful for placements.
