Sheffield is very safe, friendly and secure for all students joining the university. The program is stressful but it’s worth it. You gain a lot of experience and it’s worth having an international exposure. Weather is pathetic. All you need to do is “BE PREPARED” when it comes to weather !

Apart from IELTS I did not take up any other exams. I took the help of Edwise International Counsellors, Mumbai. The visa process was quite OK, not difficult. I did not have any visa interview. I flew BA, though it did not offer a student fare excess baggage of 23 kgs was allowed. I landed at Heathrow Airport which is nearly 3 hours from the university. The suited airport to reach Sheffield is the Manchester Airport. Generally the immigration process goes quite smoothly for students. Just have all the important docs with you ready at hand. The university offers ‘meet and greet’ service at the Manchester Airport.

Iam staying at private rented accommodation with my friends near the university. Lecture halls are quite big and well ventilated. Libraries are excellent and well-organised. All sorts of books and journal papers are available to you, and it’s open 24 hrs a day. We do have good sports facilities also. Part time jobs are also available…just need to hunt and be confident to do it.]]

The university offers amazing placement cell which helps us to register with various recruitment agencies. Jobs are not easy for anyone to get in. Nothing specific, you get jobs on your credits. The uni runs its own placement process. We are eligible to be part of UK for another 2 years as part of international graduate scheme. Though there is an alumni society Iam not a part of it…so I have no idea if it helps with the placements.
