A potential student for this course should have a good background in finance either as work experience or undergrad degree. The course is extremely challenging, and will require full time involvement. Students who look to pursue this course cannot manage doing a part time job, and should have sufficient finances for expenses.

The selection process is not very strict. The course doesnt require any GMAT scores as such, but a 2 year work experience is recommended but not mandatory. Good undergrad scores will help. Students should be aware that this is a 1 year program, hence will not help in gaining a PR in Australia, as Visa regulations require a minimum of 2 years of study.

The course is expensive and requires sufficient investment. Bank loans should be available in your home country. The University doesnt provide much variety of scholorships and just 20 or so for entire international postgraduates. Most of the students fund thier own studies or take up a bank loan. However it is recommended if your home country offers any, or if your company is willing to fund.

The course is the best in Asia-Pacific region and runs simultaneously is Beijing, Singapore, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney. The teacher are often flying to different locations, hence all students are sure to get the same teaching qualility. The lectures are extremely knowledgable and very interactive. Study support is offered in forms of online course forums. Teachers are very approachable. The lecturers themselves are extremely successful in thier field and have thorough knowledge of thier subjects. The lecturers for the elective courses are also currently professionals in various investment banks in Australia.

The university provides good facilities, like computer labs and a good library. But most students are better off buying thier own books and owning a computer with net facilties, as the library doesnt have too vast collection. Mq Uni provides a small range of off and on campus accomodation, however, students often find thier own. The university website is extremely useful in all aspects of finding a place to live. I would recommend the off-campus accomodation, as it comes with a fully furnished apartment, and all untilities. They have to be be booked quite in advance and require a full upfront payment. But nevertheless, very convinient. With regards to part time work. students beyond age of 21 will find it hard to get jobs in stores/supermarkets, but can try white collered jobs. Although part time work is a definite no for this course, it it possible to find at the Macquire Shopping Centre located next to the Uni. Shopping can be a breeze because of the shopping mall nex door. Woolworths, Big W, Target etc etc are all there. You can shop for all our daily grocery shopping, clothes, shoes, stationary and more here. They even have all the major fast food joints and an Ice Rink. Indian students like me, will find it difficult to shop for india groceries however, and although there is just one shop in Epping, it is quite expensive. Hence Indian students often have to go to Burwood, Wentworthwil etc which are accessible from Epping Train Station. If you are a party person, the Uni hosts good parties every Thrusday with cheap beer and good music and dancing. Then is The Ranch located just a few minutes from the Uni. Due to lack of choices, students just end of going to the City, which is a 40-50 min bus ride.

Definitely having a PG degreee under your belt is useful, and help you get good graduate positions. The MAF degree in particular is well recognised in Asia Pacific region and more suitable for student finding jobs in Australia, Singapore, Bejing etc. Undergraduates can expect to go only a certain distance when it comes to careers, and high profile jobs like Portfolio Manager, Traders etc need to be equipped with a Masters degree atleast. More importantly students pursuing this course can expect to complete thier CFA as well.
