Overall, it has been a memorable experience for me, something I will cherish for the rest of my life.
The university was established in the 1870s, and is loaded with amenities and houses around 30,000 undergrads and grads at any time. As far as the engineering school is concerned, KU is a hub for networking and radar research. You will find great courses in routing, wireless communication, bio-informatics, parallel computing and operating systems. There are a plethora of courses available in the other engineering departments as well, but I am not aware of those. The professors are of very high caliber and they are very good in their respective fields, and expect high standards from the students too. As far as funding goes, there are lot of opportunities within the departments and the school and it is more of what you are interested in.
There are resident halls where you will find dorm like accommodation, and off campus apartment complexes available for reasonable rents (usually people live in shared accommodation which works out really affordable). The Campus bus usually goes through all these places and so commute is not an issue. KU is also big time in basketball and you will find any game night receiving the spotlight over any other event in the campus. There are very few places on earth which you can call "home away from home" and Lawrence is sure to top that list. Lawrence is a very pretty university town, with everything available within walkable distances.People are very friendly and helpful, this is sometimes tagged the mid west charm,and you will never find yourself in a helpless situation. There is a KU Cultural India Club:(here they even arrange air port pick ups for new students)
