When I decided to try for my Masters abroad, I basically wanted a university where there was research going in the server-side computing. Though I had applied to 6 univs n got admitted in 4, NJIT,IIT,CSU Fresno and TAMUK, I chose NJIT coz it offered specialisation in the my desired area and the courses it offered best suited my area of interest.
Getting the visa was pretty easy. My advice to future students would be to read up a lot about the course and the university. Many VOs are interested to know about the program...best to be prepared. Look the VO in the eye and answer honestly and confidently. All the best.
My parents funded my education.
The remarkable research facilities offered did give me an edge in the competitive world.
