Visa interview was easy. Selection was based on GRE. Preparation -Regular studying and having a game plan.I attended coaching classes. It was easy to get tickets. Airline - Air India. Service was ok.. Iwas offered a student fare. Landed at New York (JFK) then to Dallas/Ft Worth (DFW). Airport is 20 minutes from the institution. Baggage allowed was 3 full size for Air India till JFK and then just 2 for domestic travel in US.Excess baggage allowed was only on Air India student travel concession. No immigration issues were faced at Port of Entry. No Meet and greet was offered by the college.
Graduate Teaching/Research Assistantships are available.
I am kind of happy with course. There is always room for improvement but was a good experience overall.
I live in University student appartments. They are on-campus and cheaper than private apt complexes. Lecture halls are pretty good. Library is big. We have all sports facilities. Its not very easy for Indian students get part-time job because of the large Indian population¿ about 1200+!!! Social scene is decent 300+ bars in the DFW metroplex! VERY HOT in summer but moderate otherwise. Lots of Indian students here. The Indian society handles Charity drives, cultural events, volunteering opportunities.
Placements sucks. It all depends on the individual¿s ability to network. We dont really have a campus placement process. God only knows how students land up with jobs through the university. very few organizations come for campus recruitments. Work permit process is prety easy. There is an alumni society.I don't know how active they are. I don't know if they help with placements.
